Inspired by Jorge Luis Borges' short story "The Library of Babel," this website is a digital manifestation of the impossible: a library containing every possible 410-page book using a 25-character alphabet. That's 25^1,312,000 books—a number so vast it makes the number of atoms in the universe look tiny.

The Concept

Every book that has ever been written exists somewhere in this library. Every book that will ever be written is already here. The complete works of Shakespeare, your biography (including the parts that haven't happened yet), the cure for cancer, and infinite nonsense—all arranged in hexagonal rooms that stretch into infinity.

🔢 Mind-Bending Math

The library contains 25^1,312,000 books. To put this in perspective: if every atom in the observable universe (approximately 10^80 atoms) were itself a universe with the same number of atoms, and we repeated this process a thousand times, we still wouldn't have enough atoms to represent a fraction of a fraction of a percent of these books.

Navigation

The website uses a deterministic algorithm to generate books. You can search for specific text, and if it exists in a 410-page format, the library will locate it. You can also browse randomly, wandering through hexagonal rooms filled with books that contain mostly gibberish—but occasionally, by pure chance, a coherent sentence emerges.

"I spent three hours searching for my own name and found it surrounded by random characters on page 287 of a book in Hexagon 3g7h8k9p. It was unsettling and beautiful." — A lost explorer

Why Visit?

The Infinite Library is a meditation on infinity, randomness, and the nature of meaning. It's both humbling and exhilarating to know that somewhere in its depths exists every truth and every lie, every secret and every revelation—all equally accessible and equally lost.
